Project description The OPTIDRILL concept was born to address and solve problems in drilling for geothermal resources that increase uncertainty and well construction costs. Digitalization, automation, deep learning, and big data are of considerable interest to the energy industry and are expected to revolutionize the drilling and energy industry. OPTIDRILL´s innovative drilling advisory system is based on a combination of enhanced monitoring systems, multiple data-driven ML modules, each being responsible for either analysis, prediction, or optimization of one aspect of the drilling or completion process. An enhanced monitoring system will be developed based on real-time MWD systems as well as acoustic and vibration sensors. The automated machine learning analysis method will predict drilling parameters, using a real-time monitoring and optimization tool, as a unified system combining existing data and the newly developed methods, and finally, a coupled drilling optimization models to reduce overall geothermal drilling and production cost. Your tasks Pre-process and analyze large volumes of drilling data Develop digital, intelligent data interpretation and analysis methods for enhancing drilling performance Develop machine learning approaches for classification, prediction, and data analysis Provide digital and control solutions for various drilling applications to improve the process Conduct laboratory and field experiments Dissemination and publication of results What we expect from you You have a Master's degree or University Diploma in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or Electrical and Power Engineering. You have programming experience (MATLAB, Python). You have knowledge in machine learning and data mining as well as in data-driven methods. Good knowledge in the application of drilling and well models and in signal processing methods are among your strengths. Very good written and spoken English skills are an advantage.
