IBM Deutschland GmbH

Jobbeschreibung

At IBM, work is more than a job - it's a calling: To build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you've never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems? If so, lets talk. Your Role and Responsibilities Re-shape pair programming in the cloud - 2 Internship Positions - Roles and Responsibilities: We are looking for two students/interns, who would be assigned one of the following projects each - which one, we discuss with you in our interview, based on your interests, skills and experiences. Following your internship, optionally, we can discuss whether it makes sense to dive even deeper by writing a Master-Thesis@IBM on a related subject matter: 1. Metrics Display Management System Tags: Monitoring, Metrics, Operational Excellence, CI/CD, Cloud Computing, single-sign-on "Pairadise" is a pair-programming space within the IBM Lab Böblingen that is home of the Cloud Foundry and Cloud Functions development teams. We rely on various systems to observe our software components' state not only during the development process (CI/CD), but also in production. We achieve this by monitoring key metrics for our components deployed around the globe. Today we walk up to the one of the screens and type URLs, usernames and passwords in order to configure a different or additional web page to be shown. We envision a new system that allows the management of the URLs, usernames and passwords using a web-based system. We are also looking for improved accountability by connecting the new system to IBM's single-sign on architecture. There are existing systems that can be extended with the new features, but we are also open to fresh ideas and new implementations for these requirements. 2. PairUp 9001 Tags: nodejs, react, cloudfoundry, pairprogramming, opensource Many distributed Cloud Foundry teams use a web application to facilitate the daily standup meeting: seeing the current pair programming allocations, rotating them for a new day, and also having a place for notes that are discussed in the "parking lot". There is an existing node.js application that is already quite successful. But just like with every other piece of software, there is a large backlog of features that could improve the utility and usability of the app. Working on this app provides the student with the unique opportunity to improve a successful open-source application. 3. Slack Bot for PagerDuty alerts Tags: Slack, PagerDuty, Bot, User Experience As providers of the IBM Cloud Code Engine Batch service we primarily communicate with customers via Slack. We would like to make it simple to alert our team about critical issues. PagerDuty is our tool to manage alerts, but creating a new alert with the right service and appropriate severity is not always trivial. The goal of this project is to create a Slack bot that allows customers to create new PagerDuty alerts for our team from within Slack. The bot will ask the customer a set of questions (using Slacks interactivity features) and create a corresponding PagerDuty alert as a result. Working on this project provides the student with the unique opportunity to create a practical solution in a modern and agile environment that will improve both customer experience and team happiness. There is some flexibility on the scope and implementation details of this project. We are also open for a designer working on defining and polishing the user workflow (potentially in cooperation with a development-focused student). 4. Metrics Display Rotation Tags: Monitoring, Metrics, Operational Excellence, CI/CD, Cloud Computing "Pairadise" is a pair-programming space within the IBM Lab Böblingen that is home of the Code Engine development teams. We rely on various systems to observe our software components' state not only during the development process (CI/CD), but also in production. We achieve this by monitoring key metrics for our components deployed around the globe. Today we display these metrics on big screens in the Pairadise. So far we can only show a single web page, which is quite static. In the future we would like to define a rotation of several webpages, including metrics for each environment as well as the state of our CI/CD pipelines and test systems. The work should consist of the following high-level tasks: - Research and assess existing solutions for switching a defined set of web pages in a browser - Build one or more prototypes using the existing solution(s), and - Implement a new approach that fits aforementioned requirements - Integrate one or more of the prototypes into our infrastructure ________________________________________________________________________________ Interested?
